What do I need to take with me to my birthing location in order to be prepared for the encapsulation process?

If you have ordered a transport kit as part of your placenta package - you need nothing except the transport kit that we have mailed you. Otherwise, you need:

1. A cooler to properly store the placenta until it is picked up.

2. Two 2 gallon zip lock bags to put the placenta in. Your birth place will probably have a container for you to use, but better to be prepared than not have something to put it in!

3. Great Expectation’s contact info. (hint, it’s 833-PLACNTA)

How can I know that the placenta pills that I receive are from my placenta?

We only work on one placenta at a time. Your placenta gets all our attention! Since there is never more than one placenta being worked on at any given time, there is no way to “mix up” anything. As an added safeguard, we label everything that touches your placenta with your name. From the workspace surface, (your name is written in dry erase marker on it while we work on your placenta) to the dehydrator…your name is everywhere.

We also ensure no cross contamination - we always use disposable items whenever possible and clean all items before and after any work is started.

Is the process safe?

Safety is our top priority. Here a few ways we ensure that your placenta is safe.

  • We use proper refrigeration and transportation protocols

  • We are thoroughly trained and experienced. We bring our knowledge and that experience to every placenta we process.

  • We have a dedicated workspace to process your placenta. It is not encapsulated next to food products or in family kitchen.

  • We only work on one placenta at a time. Your placenta gets all our attention!

  • Our preparation area and all reusable equipment is properly disinfected based on OSHA and EPA guidelines.

Want to read more about safety? We get it, we are control freaks about this and want you to feel comfortable.

Can My Placenta be encapsulated in the event of:

  • Meconium

  • Cesarean Delivery

  • Premature Delivery

  • Testing GBS positive

In almost every case, yes!

When and Where do you pick up?

When your baby arrives, you let us know and one of our placenta specialists will pick up your placenta from your birth location. We pick up your placenta the same day that you deliver or request our services.

How do I receive my placenta products?

Your package of placenta products will be delivered to the address you put on your order form within 2-4 days pick up. Usually turn around time is 2-3 days. If you need to change that address, please let us know - it’s no problem as long as we know where the pills go!

What is in my placenta pills? What is in my tincture?

Your capsules are 100% your placenta. We use vegan and flavored gel capsules. The tincture is made from your placenta and high grade vodka. We do not process with any herbs, oils or other additives. It’s just your beautiful placenta in there.

How many capsules will I receive?

Every placenta is different, but the average results in approximately 130 capsules. The final results will depend on the size of your placenta and the method by which it was prepared. Raw prep produces more pills than the steamed version - that’s is why it is our default.

I’ve heard there are different methods for preparing placenta pills? Which method do you use?

We offer both steamed and raw prep - it’s your choice. In both methods, your placenta is heated to food safe temperatures during the dehydration process. Our dehydrators heat to 160 during drying. If you need help deciding what is best for you, let us know and we can help.
